Mary Martuscelli: Stepping Back to Step Up
Mary Martuscelli hopes that the rather roundabout and jagged route she took to end up as president of JPMorgan Chase Bank in Arizona inspires others.
Fresh out of Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in finance, she joined the National Bank of Detroit in 1979 as a human-resources manager. Within a few years, when laws changed to allow banks to acquire banks in other states, she moved into strategic planning.
