Florence Crittenton Names New CEO
Florence Crittenton, the organization that has helped at-risk girls and young women since 1896, has named Dr. Kellie Warren as its new CEO. Dr. Warren replaces longtime CEO Linda Volhein, who retired in June 2011 after serving as its leader for 18 years.
“We are pleased that Dr. Warren has accepted this new role in the agency. Her extensive background working with young people, her firsthand knowledge of the agency and her passion for making a difference in the lives of the young women we serve make her the perfect fit for leading the agency forward,” Larry Lytle, board chair of the nonprofit organization, said.
Dr. Warren has been part of Florence Crittenton since November 2010, when she was recruited by Volhein to serve as chief operations officer. In that role, her responsibilities involved leading the growth of new and existing programs, including residential, outpatient counseling, community-based services and transitional living.
Most of her administrative, clinical and research interest has focused on children and adolescents with mental illness, developmental disabilities, substance abuse and dependency disorders, adolescent delinquency problems, traumatization and gender responsive and culturally competent services. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Central State University and a Doctor of Psychology from Wright State University School of Professional Psychology.
Prior to coming to Florence Crittenton, Dr. Warren served as the deputy director of the Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections, overseeing all phases of the operation of juvenile treatment, rehabilitation and monitoring. She also served as the department’s assistant director of programs and institutions and the clinical director of medial and behavioral health services.
