Dorothy McGuire Williamson

Dorothy McGuire Williamson, a long-time resident of Paradise Valley, died Sept. 7, 2012. She is known for her role in the McGuire Sisters singing group. The sisters performed in 1952 on the Arthur Godfrey show, where they became regulars and in the ’50s and ‘60s had earned acclaim on TV. They had a number of hit songs including “Sugartime” and “Sincerely.”

 

The McGuire Sisters performed well into the 1960s and had their final performance in 1985 on the PBS special “Magic Moments: The Best of ’50s Pop.”

 

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Lowell Williamson, her sons Rex and David, her two sisters, two stepchildren and nine grandchildren.
