Desert Foundation Auxiliary Ball Welcomes New Debutants

Twelve young women from Scottsdale, Paradise Valley and Carefree made their debut to the social community at the Desert Foundation Auxiliary 52nd Annual Ball on December 22nd.

Friends and family came together to kick off the holidays at the Phoenician, where the event has been held ever since the hotel opened in 1985.

“My mother was President the first year at the Phoenician. It started at the Phoenician and I remember a young girl and seeing how special it was, and now I’m here tonight and and it means carrying on the traditions,” said Desert Foundation alumni Cay Cowie.

President Steven and Kim Zieser, Ball Chair Michael and Wendy Arendt, and Ball Co-Chair Gina and Joseph Foster welcomed guests into cocktail hour. At 7:15, as tradition every year,  generations of past debutants gathered for an alumni photo.

Guests then moved to the grand ball room adorned in hydrangeas, touches of turquoise and  sparkling chandeliers for a four-course meal, and presentation of the debutants by Thomas Reahard. The celebration continued as The Hamptons played until the clock struck midnight.

“It is all about family and friends that come together during the holidays and celebrate all the things that families do together,” said President Kim Zieser. “Our idea this year is a full circle of gratitude. So it’s full circle of friends and family, full circle of those here who support our charities.”

Annually, the Desert Foundation Auxiliary distributes proceeds to the Ball to selected charities. This years receiptians are Maddie’s Daddy Foundation and Scottsdale Training and Rehabilitation Services (STARS).
