Ywca 1Hats off to the valley’s leading women.
On Saturday, February 23rd, YWCA Maricopa County celebrated its 20th annual Tribute to Leadership event. The eleven individuals honored have all made substantial contributions to eliminating discrimination, empowering women, and serving as champions to our community.
Presented by The Arizona Republic, 12 News and Blue Cross Blue Shield, Tribute to Leadership was emceed once again by Channel 12’s wonderful Tram Mai.
Attendees included Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton, YW’s first male board member, Nicole Stanton, First Lady and former Tribute Honoree, U.S. Representative Kyrsten Sinema, U.S. Representative Lela Alston, Congressman Ed Pastor and his wife, Verma.
stantonGuests were served cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while listening to the sounds of violinist, Jonathan Levingston, and later danced to the music of The Upper East Side Big Band after enjoying a beautiful dinner.
Regina Blakely, a nationally known poet, created and presented a poem celebrating the YW and its honorees. For the first time in YWCA history, Tribute to Leadership honored not only women, but also men.
“It is an honor to be able to celebrate such exceptional individuals,” said Dana Campbell Saylor, CEO of YWCA Maricopa County.  “They have truly made incredible contributions to our community as well as extended their hearts through their passion and commitment.”
Tribute to Leadership is YW’s largest fundraising event of the year, providing essential services for seniors, home-delivered meals for impoverished elderly, disabled adults and veterans, financial education to women and families, and essential awareness programs to eliminate discrimination and promote gender equity.
