This spring, the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA) is partnering once again with Ultimate Art & Cultural Tours to provide art lovers with a special behind-the-scenes set of excursions to visit Valley artists in their personal studios.

Starting with the first trip on Jan. 15, 2014, SMoCA and the cultural tour company Ultimate Art & Cultural Tours, led by proprietor Ace Bailey, will roll out a three-part tour series featuring both established and emerging Arizona artists.

Participants experience a monthly trip revealing an insider's glimpse into the creative process of working artists. Each monthly tour lasts about four hours and will feature talent such as painter/sculptor William Barnhart and glass artist B.J. Katz.

This unique experience allows tour-goers the privilege of personal artist interaction, observance of on-site practices and the opportunity to witness artists' creative methods, ideas and lifestyles directly in the studio setting. See art in the making and hear artists talk about their inspiration on their home turf through these tours.

Rotraut Klein Moquay, the widow of celebrated French artist Yves Klein,

is on the March tour. Rotraut’s work is often big and stunning  with vibrant colors.
