On the Cactus League Trail
The latest crown jewel of the Cactus League was unveiled last spring when the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies opened Salt River Fields at Talking Stick on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community in Scottsdale.
With a sunken seating bowl and huge shaded ramadas, the sleek new ballpark met with rave reviews. Even baseball commissioner Bud Selig sang its praises: “Everyone told me it was remarkable. It’s even better than that,” Selig said to the Arizona Republic after attending Salt River Fields’ inaugural Opening Day.
