Childsplay Party Gets Cooking

For some of us just ending up in the kitchen is a disaster.  For Childsplay it is something else.  Chefs Mark Tarbell, Beau MacMillan and Barbara Fenzl to top off the evening at Childsplay’s Recipe for Disaster Gala.
Don’t let the name fool you! Childsplay’s upcoming Recipe for Disaster Gala will be anything but a disaster, thanks in part to the participation of these local celebrity chefs.
The event, which is Childsplay’s major fundraising event of the season, is themed around the original play “Recipe for Disaster.”   This slapstick comedy takes place in a cooking school and is sure to entertain.  The event is to be held Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Tempe Center for the Arts, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Guests will enjoy a cocktail hour with live music and an exclusive silent auction focused on fine dining, food and cooking experiences. A VIP performance of the show follows, before guests sit down for dinner with a menu mimicking the foods in the show. The chefs will top off the evening sharing humorous stories of their cooking and career experiences.

“In true Childsplay fashion, the evening promises to be both elegant and fun!” says Adrienne Schiffner, Childsplay Board Member and Chairperson of the event.
The new play “Recipe for Disaster” originates in the kitchen as two “master” chefs’ constant arguing makes a mess of an important exam for one struggling young apprentice. Culinary chaos ensues, as one chef struggles to top another and the apprentice tries desperately to convince them to put down their spatulas and work together. This hilarious new play mixes physical comedy and music tossed with a dash of improvisation, teaching civility in a most delicious way!
