Roberto Cavalli on the Runway

Invited guests of Phoenix Art Museum and Saks Fifth Avenue filled the second floor rotunda of the Biltmore Fashion Park store to enjoy a cocktail reception followed by a runway presentation of Roberto Cavalli’s Spring 2014 Collection. The occasion reflected the glamour of Hollywood and was in anticipation of Phoenix Art Museum's March 22, 2014, gala that will herald the opening of the Hollywood Costume exhibition. The Phoenix Art Museum showing is the West Coast premiere of the collection, organized by the Victoria and Albert Museum of London.

The Nov. 7 occasion was the first time Saks had used the rotunda for a runway show instead of building a runway in one of the departments on the second floor. The softly lit area accommodated more people and made a classic backdrop for the fashions.

Formal wear was as pretty going as coming. The fabrics were light and airy with perfect detailing in the construction.

Intricate embellishments and details made seemingly simple designs dazzle.

Lightweight fabrics seemed to float as the models took to the runway.

The collection showed several two-piece suits with the popular shorter pant.

The summer story: fresh color, denim, leather and sheer fabrics.
