Volunteers Keep Phoenix Beautiful
The Valley of the Sun is coming together to go green this fall! On Saturday, November 5th, Keep Phoenix Beautiful will host a city-wide volunteer day to keep the Phoenix community clean and green. In one morning, 2,500 individuals from across the valley will volunteer in over 30 locations to beautify Phoenix. This single-day event is poised to have a huge environmental impact in the Phoenix community to promote the importance of volunteering.
“The ability to transform Phoenix begins with the power of individual volunteers,” said Tom Waldeck, President and CEO of Keep Phoenix Beautiful. “Everything we do in the community is thanks to the spirit of volunteerism. From cleaning up canals, installing community gardens, or planting shade trees, one person can make a big difference by giving back on Keep Phoenix Beautiful Day.”
Participants will have the chance to volunteer in nearly 30 locations, including 15 site opportunities with the City of Phoenix parks. Volunteer locations span north to Carefree and south to South Mountain Park, conveniently providing a variety of ways for anyone to lift a hand. Corporate volunteer groups with Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Go Daddy and others have offered to join this single day of impact. Since 2013, over 9,000 volunteers have participated in annual Keep Phoenix Beautiful events to give back to the community.
Chipotle Mexican Grill will be partnering again this year, offering free delicious burritos and T-shirts to the volunteers in support of sustainable community practices by keeping Phoenix “burrito-ful.” Other sponsors such Lowes, UPS, ReImagine Phoenix, and their national organization Keep America Beautiful will provide planting tools, clean up materials, garden materials and trees to create shade.
Keep Phoenix Beautiful Day projects begin at 8 a.m. until noon. Volunteers may sign up for a project today by visiting their website at www.kpbday.org. Spaces are limited!
