Scottsdale Chamber Announces the 26th Annual Scottsdale History Hall of Fame Inductees

The Past Presidents’ Council of the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce will be celebrating the 26th Annual Scottsdale History Hall of Fame event on May 9.

The event, presented by The Scottsdale Charros, will be honoring five individuals, a local company, and one non-profit organization.

Over the past 25 years, the Council has inducted 135 past and present Scottsdale leaders and 25 organizations into Scottsdale’s History Hall of Fame. These individuals and organizations have contributed immeasurably to the rich heritage of Scottsdale, dating back to its modern-day founding in 1888 by Army Chaplain Winfield Scott. The event honors the people and organizations who have contributed so greatly to the legacy of making the City of Scottsdale one of the “best cities to live” in the Nation.

 The 2019 Honorees are:

  • Mr. Ken Harder – Career banking executive, former chair of the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce, past Scottsdale Charros baseball chair.
  • Mr. Jeff Meyer– President of the Cactus League, business owner, past Patron and Foundation Chair of the Scottsdale Charros.
  • Mr. & Mrs. Bob and Renee Parsons – Scottsdale-based philanthropists; internationally-renown entrepreneur of hi-tech, retail and media businesses; U.S. Marine Corps veteran (Bob).
  • Mr. Jim Wellington – Career Arizona utility executive, former Scottsdale Unified School District board member, Scottsdale civic leader and volunteer, U.S. Air Force veteran (Posthumous recognition).
  • Sugar Bowl Ice Cream Parlor & Restaurant – Beloved downtown Scottsdale restaurant/ice cream parlor since 1958, owned and operated by members of the Huntress family.
  • Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRP-MIC) – Founded in 1879, SRP-MIC is Scottsdale’s partner in friendship, tourism, economic vitality, higher education, environmental programs, health and wellness and other quality of life initiatives.
