BLK BOX PHX Combines Two Holiday Traditions — Shakespeare and Drinking

BLK BOX PHX’s “S#!tfaced Shakespeare”

They’re two time-honored traditions, and they’re being brought together over the holiday season in an unusual way.

Theater troupe BLK BOX PHX is producing a performance called “S#!tfaced Shakespeare,” a humorous adaptation of a Shakespearean play with a twist — one inebriated cast member.

Before the show, audience members vote for which actor they would like to see perform under the influence of alcohol, and the sober cast members then have to try and keep it together while nursing their fellow cast member through the play.

The shows are also a twist on the old standards — “MacBooze,” “Half-Baked Hamlet” and “Romeo & Juliet With Jack” are included.

While it likely goes without saying, “S#!tfaced Shakespeare,” is meant for an adult audience. It is adapted by Angelica Howland and directed by David Barker, and presented by Davisson Entertainment.

Performances run from now through Dec. 31:
Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays: 7:30 p.m.
Fridays & Saturdays 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Sundays 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
No performances on December 24th, 25th and 26th in observance of the holidays.

Additionally, the troupe is having a special New Year’s Party and performance on Dec. 31, with the ticket price of $40 including party favors, appetizers, champagne toast, a full performance of the show, and live stream of the Times Square ball drop.

The performances are in the Judith Hardes Theatre at Phoenix Theatre, located at 1825 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix.  Tickets are $27-$40, plus a $7 processing fee, and patrons may use promo code MacBooze for a special discount.  For tickets call 602-254-2151 or visit https://blkboxphx.com.
