Nonprofit Ballet Company to Boost Arts Education

Convergence Ballet Company, a nonprofit dance group, will perform “Iluminar!” on August 11 and 12 in central Phoenix.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the PLIES or Providing Leaps In Elementary School, a program which works with Ballet Theatre of Phoenix and Loma Linda Elementary School to provide underserved students with classical ballet education.
“This season is especially intriguing because we have four new dancers and three new choreographers joining the Convergence Ballet family,” said Ballet Theatre of Phoenix director and Convergence Balley Company creator Jennifer Cafarella. “In ‘Iluminar!’ we have four pieces, running through the entire spectrum of talents from the dancers. These include classical ballet, swing and contemporary pieces and showcase three new world-premiere works. This show will include a diverse array of classical and contemporary productions showcasing incredible artists. We will illuminate the stage.”
The performance will take place at the new Madison Center for the Arts, a 24,547-square-foot space that seats 900 in the auditorium. ‘Illuminar!’ will be one of the first performances in the center.
