15th Annual Free Arts of Arizona Art from the Heart Event Raises Over $96K

By Tyler Butler
Saks Fifth Avenue at Biltmore Fashion Park was buzzing with excitement earlier this month at the 15th Annual Free Arts of Arizona Art from the Heart event in anticipation of the charity event.
The event featured a silent auction that included masterful works of art from their featured artist, Fred Tieken of the Tieken Studio and Gallery AZ. Tieken and his wife Gail also served as honorary event chairs.
Tieken is known for his feel for color and composition and his socially aware sense of humor — this social awareness was perfectly combined with the work of other prominent Arizona artists to share a well curated show benefitting Free Arts of Arizona.
Art from the Heart hosted more than 325 people and raised over $96,000. Hors d’oeuvres, a signature cocktail and a live DJ rounded out the experience, which was made possible by event co-chairs Megan Nordquest Schwallie and Lisa Portigal.
Free Arts for Abused Children of Arizona is the only nonprofit organization in Arizona delivering creative and therapeutic arts programs, at no cost, to children ages 3 to 21 that have faced abuse, neglect and homelessness.
The event was presented by Edward Jones.
