Phoenix Symphony Announces Upcoming Season, Focus on Diversity

The Phoenix Symphony will focus on diversity in music for its upcoming 2018-2019 season which will open the weekend of September 14 with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9.
Virginia G. Piper Music Director Tito Muñoz will lead the energetic season, which will feature classic music by Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Beethoven and more as well as the symphony’s pop series featuring the music of Broadway hit “Chicago” and “The Harry Potter Film Concert Series” and American works that showcase diverse composers.

“This season we’re really pushing the envelope with innovation and impact in symphony programming,” said Phoenix Symphony president and CEO Jim Ward. “From multimedia collaborations in our Classics, a selection of feature films including the original 1977 “Star Wars,” and of course our popular holiday programs, we have music for everyone.”
The season will conclude next June with a Broadway celebration performance.
The Phoenix Symphony recently celebrated its 70th anniversary season.
