one n ten FRESH Brunch Raises Record-Breaking Funds

By Tyler Butler
Earlier this month, 1,225 guests gathered at the Arizona Biltmore to celebrate one n ten’s 25 years of serving LGBTQ youth through a variety of support services and programs. The FRESH Brunch brought a crisp look and lively supporters to one of Phoenix premiere LGBTQ organizations.
As guests entered the ballroom they were immediately greeted with walls full of sponsor’s logos. Each of the unique logos showcased that Phoenix is a community that supports and celebrates diversity. The stage was set in the center of the ballroom signifying the charity’s perspective on inclusion giving every attendee ample opportunity to have a clear view of the inspiring program.
The organization had humble beginnings in a garage and has now grown to serve youth ages 11-24 across the Valley and with satellites across the state. The organization celebrated its past successes and honored the just retired executive director, Linda Elliott with the Babe Caylor Individual Award for the significant advances she made in supporting youth, creating and growing housing, education, a youth center and mentoring programs, among other celebrated achievements. It also featured Nate Rhoton as its new executive director who will be working to build an even broader reach into the community.
Fry’s Food & Drug Stores received the Corporate Leadership Award and Robinson Maynes was honored with the Nora Gustavsson Volunteer Spirit Award.
Honorary co-chairs, Billie Jo Herberger and Oscar De la salas, and event co-chairs, Donna Rose and Rick McCartney, welcomed the hundreds of supporters to the event that serves as the organizations largest single source of funding.
This year’s record setting brunch raise nearly half a million dollars to keep programs like Q High and Camp OUTdoors! going and growing. With special help from auctioneer and community champ Letitia Frye, this was the most successful event in the organization’s history.
