Desert Botanical Garden Celebrates Youth in Nature, Honors Girl Scouts CEO

The Desert Botanical Garden honored CEO of the Girl Scouts–Arizona Cactus-Pine Council Tamara Woodbury with the Vision and Leadership in Conservation Award at its annual Conservation Celebration luncheon benefiting its Central Arizona Conservation Alliance initiative earlier this month.

“Under Tamara’s leadership there are so many examples of how she has been an advocate and leader for teaching children about nature and the importance of appreciating and conserving the environment, she truly embodies the spirit of this award and we are thrilled to honor her,” said Desert Botanical Garden executive director Ken Schutz.
This year’s luncheon focused on connecting kids with nature and featured guest speaker Juan Martinez, who leads the Children & Nature Network’s Natural Leaders initiative, a network of diverse young leaders working to increase equitable access to nature in their communities. He also serves as an ambassador for The North Face, National Geographic Explorer and is a TED Speaker.
The event chairs were Martha Hunter-Henderson and Pam Hait.
