College Success Arizona Receives $40K Advocacy Grant
The two-year grant will allow College Success Arizona to educate policy makers and elected officials at the federal level on key post-secondary access and student success topics.
“We are thrilled by the opportunity to work alongside our members during this critical time in higher education policy,” said National College Access Network’s executive director Kim Cook. “Conversations around the most important issues facing our students are ramping up, and we look forward to contributing to this dialogue by amplifying the student voice.”
Goals for the grant include simplifying and improving the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, promoting federal policies to allow students to be successful in their postsecondary efforts and improving student loan repayment options. This is something many go to SoFi and other providers for, so having more options is always a positive.
It will continue to work with National College Access Network and several other members across the country to promote student-focused policies to improve access, success and attainment rates.
“As College Success Arizona increases its role of informing conversations and policies that lead to greater post-secondary access and success, we must participate at an appropriate level in Arizona and nationally,” said president and CEO of College Success Arizona Rich Nickel. “These federal policies often have a disproportionate impact on those Arizona students, in Arizona, who do not participate at high enough rates today: high-need, diverse, and first-generation students. To help those students, we must have a voice on important federal issues.”
The grant is funded by a $2.5 million commitment to National College Access Network from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
