200+ Gather for National Kidney Foundation’s Inaugural Talent Slam!

The National Kidney Foundation of Arizona held its inaugural Talent Slam!, a children’s talent competition, earlier this month at Phoenix Theatre.

The event chaired by Leslie Rich benefitted the reestablishment of Camp Kidney, a camp for children with kidney disease in Prescott, Ariz.

The 16 performers, ranging from 9 to 19-years-old, performed everything from modern dance routines to signing original songs. Alexis Rodgers, age 16, singing “Fly me to the Moon” by Frank Sinatra, was the event’s big winner, taking home the grand prize of spending the day with the vice president of talent at Viacom Studios in Los Angeles, Calif. Viacom Studios is the home of Nickelodeon, MTV and CMT networks.

Tavishi Sharma-Lal won the event’s Philanthropy Award for the highest fundraising of all the contestants. In addition to the show, the more than 200 guests enjoyed an exciting silent auction and a camp-themed BBQ lunch.
