The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Fundraiser Enters Final Week at 44 Percent of Goal

The Salvation Army has headed into the final week of its Phoenix metro area Red Kettle Campaign at 44 percent of its goal — and the organization is asking for the community’s help to boost the effort.

This year’s campaign, entitled “Fight for Good” will help to boost The Salvation Army’s array of services. The yearly red kettle collections account for 25 to 28 percent of the organization’s total donations in the Valley each year.

“One of the many important things we want people to know is that money donated to The Salvation Army stays in the local community to provide vital social service programs such as food for the hungry, relief for disaster survivors, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter for the homeless, adult rehabilitation, and opportunities for underprivileged children,” said southwest divisional commander for The Salvation Army, Lt. Col. Kelly Pontsler.

Eighty-two cents of each dollar donated will be used to directly support The Salvation Army’s services. Donations can be made at store fronts, online or through The Salvation Army’s text-to-give program.

“We’ve seen a lot of generosity this year, especially when disasters and tragedy have struck on a national scale, but there are still thousands in our own communities in need every day, and anything people can spare during the holiday season will help,” said Lt. Col Pontsler.

The campaign ends December 23.
