Turkey Tuesday Returns with Support from 12 News, Bashas’ and More

St. Vincent de Paul will host its annual Turkey Tuesday campaign on Tuesday, November 21 with the support of 12 News, Bashas’, Food City and the community.
The campaign, which is the largest one-day turkey drive in the nation, provides Arizona’s underserved with turkeys and holiday food for Thanksgiving.
Community members can donate funds to the cause online at St. Vincent de Paul’s website or at any Bashas or Food City location until the end of November.
12 News will be on site at Bashas’ locations with two teams — Mark Curtis and Caribe Devine in Peoria competing against Bruce Cooper and Paul Gerke in Gilbert — offering sponsor giveaways, family-friendly activities and samples. Last year, the station raised 26,000 turkeys in under 24 hours.

The event comes following a $1 million donation from the Delta Dental of Arizona Foundation to St. Vincent de Paul to help ensure oral healthcare for underserved families in the state for the next ten years.
“Thanks to the generosity of Delta Dental of Arizona, St. Vincent de Paul will be able to continue to deliver state-of-the-art care at our dental clinic to Arizonans who have nowhere else to turn for help,” said St. Vincent de Paul executive director Steve Zabilski. “This donation is much more than just helping fix our patient’s smile; it’s life-changing as they can now attend school or work pain-free and we see their self-esteem soar making the difference between them landing a new job or promotion.”
St. Vincent de Paul provides a variety of services for the homeless and underserved in the state, including medical and dental care, clothing and of course, food. The organization serves 4,500 meals each day — with 468,000 families in need in Arizona alone. All donations made on Turkey Tuesday will benefit hungry families in time for the holiday.
