Phoenix Zoo Breaks Ground on New Amphitheater

The Phoenix Zoo broke ground on its new Wildlife Amphitheater on Friday, November 3 with the support of Pride Campaign chair and Arizona Diamondbacks president and CEO, Derrick Hall and Phoenix Zoo president Bert Castro.

The new amphitheater, scheduled to open in 2018, will be located along the Nina Mason Pulliam Children’s Trail and will hold 500 guests — ten times the amount of the current amphitheater, which accommodates 50. It will host artistic performances, school group gatherings and other functions.

It will feature lake views and a spacious functional stage, and the facility will consolidate housing and care for the zoo’s educational collection of birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and arthropods.
