Phoenix Rescue Mission Collects More Than 1,000 Turkeys for Disadvantaged Families

Phoenix Rescue Mission surpassed its goal of feeding a thousand disadvantaged families through a frozen turkey drive hosted earlier this month.

The drive invited community members and businesses to drop off turkeys, enjoy a free lunch and listen to live music.

Large contributions, such as 600 turkeys donated by Lerner & Rowe Law Firm and an additional 300 from another organization, made surpassing the goal possible.

Arizona currently ranks among one of the worst states in the nation for homelessness, with more than 18,000 people in Maricopa County alone without homes.

Phoenix Rescue Mission will continue to collect items for the homeless this season with its inaugural Homeless for the holidays initiative. The organization will be collecting food, water, blankets, socks, toys and monetary donations across the Valley.
