9-Year-Old Entrepreneur Donates $10K to Cancer Research

Chloe Cundiff, the daughter of Colleen’s Dream Foundation founders Nicole and Billy Cundiff, is the 9-year-old entrepreneur behind a lemonade stand that raised $9,438— all of which she donated to ovarian cancer research.

Cundiff began her business by setting up at local spots such as The Henry, The Sparkle Bar, TGen, CBRE, Cushman & Wakefield, and Hines.

She was motivated by the passing of her grandmother, Colleen Drury, the inspiration behind Colleen’s Dream, who passed away from ovarian cancer. The funds she has raised will be donated to the Colleen’s Dream Foundation, which will then be donated to TGen for research on early detection of ovarian cancer.

Cundiff was the grand-prize winner of the “Take a Lemonade Stand” program, which donated custom-fabricated stands donated by bluemedia 100 lemonade stands to Arizona kids over the summer to teach them entrepreneurial skills and instill a spirit of community giving.

“We are incredibly proud of the 100 kidpreneurs who participated in this inaugural program,” said Kristy Jozwiak and Angela Menninger, co-founders of Duality PR. “When we introduced the program, we knew it would be exciting, but we had no idea how significant of an impact it would make on such a wide range of children, nonprofits and schools throughout Arizona.”

The top three winners were honored at an event in late October.

“It’s amazing to see kids like Chloe embrace community stewardship and exhibit incredible entrepreneurial spirit at such a young age,” said Darren Wilson, president of bluemedia. “As a company, we’ve been passionate about giving back to charitable programs that support kids and entrepreneurs, so seeing this next generation of kids carry the torch is especially inspiring.”

Following her success with the lemonade stand, Chloe has decided to start a cookie business, where she sells cookies by the dozen and has even created business cards to market her business.
