West Valley Event Celebrates Island Culture


The fifth annual West Valley Island Cultural Festival will take place on November 11 in Glendale.
The multi-cultural event will celebrate music and dance with eating contests, giveaways, dancing and live entertainment by local performers. Dances will include Polynesian, salsa and belly dancing — to name a few.
Tropical Polynesian Productions will open the festival with Hawaiian chanting and Hula Kahiko dance, directed by Kumu Hula Kalena. Mondo Exotica will perform Island Tiki Jazz music, Abyssinia Benefsefji will dance, Desert Flowers Belly Dance troupe will perform dances and Steelin the Night Away, an all-female steel drum band will perform music.
There will also be an award ceremony, honoring someone with a Lifetime Achievement award as well as sever individuals and groups with Certificates of Achievement.
