MusicaNova Orchestra opens the fourth season of their acclaimed Young Artists Concerts series, featuring violinist Hannah Goldstick and pianist Samuel Xu, on Saturday, September 23, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Arizona Piano Company Recital Hall, 4134 East Wood Street, Phoenix.

Goldstick, 16, is a student at Primavera Online High School and a resident of Chandler.  She has been concertmaster of the Youth Symphony of the Southwest since 2015, and plans to attend a music conservatory in the fall of 2018.

Xu, 16, also from Chandler, is a junior at Arizona Virtual Academy, returning to the Young Artists series by popular demand. His credits include an appearance with the professional MusicaNova Orchestra as soloist in Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F.

Both artists have garnered honors in numerous events, including the Arizona Musicfest Young Musicians competition.

The concert program includes music from Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Mendelssohn, Paganini, and Prokofiev.

Each MusicaNova Young Artist Concert features two soloists under 18 performing in a formal recital setting.

Future MusicaNova Young Artist Concerts include Emma Potter and Joshua Jensen (November 18); Audrey Wang and Ryan Stover (January 20); Alicia Wu and Angelina Zhang (March 17); and Sophia Chan and Christina Chang (May 26).

Since its inception, over three dozen young artists have appeared in the series, many of whom have gone on to study at prestigious conservatories including Juilliard, Peabody, Colburn, and Oberlin.
