Western Films’ Starring Role at the Museum of the West

Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West is opening “The Rennard Strickland Collection of Western Film History” exhibit on Tuesday, June 20. The exhibit, which was curated by the museums chief curator, Tricia Loscher, will showcase more than 100 Western film posters and lobby cards dating from as early as the 1890s.
This will be the first exhibition of the posters and other objects from the “The Rennard Strickland Collection of Western Film History” collection since their acquisition in the fall of 2016.
The film posters will include posters from all movie genres, from musicals and parodies to adventure and drama. Foreign movie posters will also be included in the exhibit. ‘
Renowned films such as “Stagecoach,” starring John Wayne, “Nanook of the North,” and “The Searchers,” will be represented in the exhibit.
The exhibit will end September 30, 2018.
