Phoenix IDA & AZ Community Foundation Boost Health Clinic
The community surrounding Valle del Sol’s midtown clinic is about to receive a priceless new resource: culturally competent, integrated health care for children and adults, thanks to funding announced this week from the Phoenix IDA and the Arizona Community Foundation.
Prior to this award, Valle del Sol’s clinic on 7th Street only offered primary care services to children. Valle del Sol will use these funds to renovate this, south of Indian School Road, to include four new exam rooms, an expanded exercise room, and a formal group therapy/health education room, allowing the 47-year-old nonprofit organization to expand primary care services at that location to include adults.
According to Valle del Sol President and Chief Executive Officer Kurt Sheppard, the award is a game-changer. “Being able to include the family members of our young patients at this primary care clinic opens up opportunities for access to health care and health education that they might not otherwise have had. We are grateful to the Phoenix IDA and the Arizona Community Foundation for this profound partnership.”
“We are investing in the growth of Valle de Sol’s clinical services to ensure that
community members of all ages can access high-quality care,” said Phoenix IDA Executive Director Juan Salgado. “Health innovation is a focus area for the Phoenix IDA, including education, prevention, and improvement of healthcare for Phoenix residents,” continued Salgado.
Renovations are slated to be completed at the end of June 2017. In the meantime, the clinic, located at 3807 N.7th Street, remains open to its existing pediatric and behavioral health.
