Mother’s Grace Aims to Raise $250K at Event

Mother’s Grace will host its 8th annual fundraising event and champagne brunch on May 4 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at El Chorro in Paradise Valley.

Mother’s Grace supports women and children facing devastating life circumstances. This year their goal is to raise more than $250,000 so that they may continue to help more families and children that are in the immediacy of life hardships, like Lori Haenny.

Haenny worked at a public school and was married with an autistic son. Her husband lost his job and in order for him to support the family, he took a job out of state. While he was gone, he met another woman and left the family. Emotional and distraught, Haenny fell through the attic floor and broke her back while packing up his belongings. When she got out of the hospital, she went back to work, but was met with a second blow in the way of a cancer diagnosis.

Mother’s Grace stepped in when Haenny was going through chemotherapy treatments. They helped her with house chores, brought them food and gave her son a scholarship. According to Michelle Moore-Fanger, Founder of Mother’s Grace, Haenny was hard working and very involved with the community. Two years have gone by and now Haenny is now cancer-free, back to working full-time, and continues to ‘pay-it-forward’ by giving back to the community that helped her during her time of need. She is currently scheduled as a guest speaker at the upcoming Mother’s Grace fundraising event.

To date, Mother’s Grace has helped thousands of women and children, like Haenny and her son, get back on their feet. They have established nearly a dozen nonprofits out of tragedy and supported numerous community organizations through grants. They offer financial assistance with monthly bills, medications, meals, housekeeping, childcare, transportation, and ancillary services.

“Our work truly changes lives when many have lost all hope,” said Arizona’s First Lady and Mother’s Grace board member, Angela Ducey. “I have been on the board for three years and have been involved with Mother’s Grace since its inception eight years ago. I could not be more proud to be associated with such a remarkable organization.”
