Mullen as Mercury: He Will, He Will Rock You!

Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?

Also…will you do the Fandango?

To find out if this is indeed a reincarnation of Queen, devotees can check out Gary Mullen and The Works as they do their best impersonation of the legendary band in a two-hour at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 3 at Celebrity Theatre.

The tribute is performed by a five-piece group headed by Freddie Mercury look and sound-alike Gary Mullen on vocals. After winning Stars In Their Eyes 2000 for his impersonation of Mercury, Mullen began touring with his band The Works, putting on a tribute act known as One Night Of Queen.

“With a definite Freddie strut wearing tight pants, some ancient Adidas sneakers, and at times shirtless, Mullen commands the stage,” a press release said. “He captures Mercury’s spirit in ways beyond just physical resemblance. He has the general look down pat: Mullen’s lithe, athletic frame, slicked back hair and mustachioed visage are reminiscent of Mercury’s famed stage appearance.”

Queen’s guitarist Brian May is played by David Brockett, who, a press release notes, “has been officially endorsed by Brian May Guitars” and adds that May has called One Night of Queen “more than a likeness.”
