Legendary Composers Performs Iconic Movie Scores in Phoenix

John Williams makes a rare Phoenix appearance and is generously donating his services, with all proceeds benefiting The Phoenix Symphony’s Education and Community Outreach programs.
On September 28, 2013, the legendary composer and conductor joins The Phoenix Symphony for an unforgettable evening of music from the movies, featuring selections from some of his most popular and iconic scores including Star Wars, Harry Potter, Jaws, E.T., Schindler’s List, Indiana Jones and more. This very special concert also showcases the magic of music and cinema with a selection of film clips to be projected above the orchestra.
In a career spanning six decades, Williams has received five Academy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards and twenty-one Grammy Awards. Williams has a total of forty-eight Academy Award nominations, making him the second most-nominated person after Walt Disney. He has composed some of the most recognizable film scores in cinematic history, including the Star Wars saga, Jaws, Superman, the Indiana Jones films, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, Saving Private Ryan, War Horse, Lincoln, and the first three Harry Potter films. Williams has composed the music for all but two of Steven Spielberg’s feature films, during an artistic partnership that has spanned 40-years.
“John Williams is one of the most acclaimed composers and conductors of our time. His music is iconic and recognized the world over. This is a very special night and those lucky enough to attend will never forget the magic created on stage.” Said Jim Ward, President and CEO of The Phoenix Symphony. “It is an honor to have a legend like John Williams grace our stage at Symphony Hall.”
